| Description: | Berendyaev М., Kokanova Е. The paper provides an overview of modern computer-aided translation systems in the context of their evolution and impact on professional translation practices. The study focuses on identifying universal patterns common to both foreign and Russian CAT tools, avoiding a narrowly specialized assessment of specific software solutions. The relevance of the work stems from the need to reconsider the functional capabilities of CAT systems amid growing demands for quality, flexibility, and security in modern translation and localization technologies. The paper highlights key areas requiring improvement: automation and integration, usability and intuitiveness, data quality, reliability and security, as well as flexibility and openness. Special attention is paid to the potential of neural network technologies and cloud computing in overcoming existing limitations. The development of the unified methodology for assessing CAT tool efficiency is recognized as a promising research direction. The conducted analysis suggests ways to enhance CAT systems in line with current trends in the digital transformation of linguistic services. |
