| Abstract: | В статье рассматривается роль комического в историческом романе Хилари Мантел «Вулфхолл». Исследуются особенности использования юмора и сатиры для характеристики персонажей, критики общественных институтов и интерпретации исторических событий через восприятие главного героя Томаса Кромвеля. Особое внимание уделяется приемам создания комического: иронии, обнажению контраста, несоответствию поведения героя его социальному статусу, неожиданному сближению разных понятий и дискурсов, игре слов. | Description: | Ramaniuk M. The article examines the role of the comic in Hilary Mantel’s historical novel Wolf Hall. It explores the use of humor and satire in character development, critique of social institutions, and interpretation of historical events through the perspective of the main character Thomas Cromwell. Special attention is given to the devices used to create comic effects: irony, the exposure of contrasts, the mismatch between the character’s behavior and his social status, unexpected juxtapositions of concepts and discourses, wordplay.
